PhilSTAR Media Group holds its first AI summit, PRO FUTURE: AI FOR LIFE

PhilSTAR Media Group, one of the leading media organizations in the Philippines, held its first Artificial Intelligence (AI) summit, PRO FUTURE: AI FOR LIFE, to tackle its potential to stimulate economic growth in the country.

Lucien Dy Tioco, the media group’s executive vice president (EVP), highlighted the significance of AI in shaping the future, saying that it has a “transformative power” across industries.

“By focusing on what we can learn about AI, we try this in our own lives where we are building a future where AI can be responsible, ethically for the development of society,” Tioco said during his landmark speech in PhilSTAR NEXT’s Pro Future: AI for Life summit.

The summit, which was held last October 11 at The Space at One Ayala, Makati City, featured a series of thought leaders and experts sharing insights into how AI is being utilized to make systems in business and media industries.

“Whether you’re a tech enthusiast, a business leader, or just curious about AI, you’re in the right place to discover the incredible potential this technology holds for improving lives,” the EVP noted.

Looking forward to the list of discussions on AI’s role in shaping the future, the EVP said that the purpose of the summit  was “clear.”

“Together, let’s make AI work for us and with us. Let’s dive in, act, and shape the future together.”

Similar to Tioco’s statement, Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) secretary Ivan John Uy said that AI must not only fuel economic growth in the country, but also “elevate” the Filipinos’ quality of life.

“Through collaboration, and strategic actions, and through events being organized by PhilSTAR, we will ensure that AI drives our shared vision of the ‘Bayang Digital: Ang Bagong Pilipinas,” the DICT chief said during his keynote speech. The media organization, in partnership with PhilSTAR Next, invited over 200 delegates and more who all came from various industries.

The event was designed for students, business leaders, entrepreneurs, tech enthusiasts, and others who are interested in AI education and its uses.
