Aputure introduced its STORM series and updated NOVA II lights, positioning the new fixtures as more accessible options for independent filmmakers and small production teams in the Philippines.

Unveiled at the “The STORM Has Come” launch in Quezon City, November 17, the lights use Aputure’s new BLAIR and BLAIR-CG engines, which are both claimed to bring out higher output efficiency and improved color accuracy.

Aputure said the upgrades offer “industry-standard performance” at a lower price point than legacy cinema lighting brands, which is a formula long appealed to students and indie creators.

The company released local pricing following the launch. The NOVA II 1×2 is priced at ₱217,000 (no case) and ₱229,000 (hard rolling case kit). The STORM 700x retails at ₱105,000, while the STORM 700x Cine Kit is ₱126,000. The STORM 400x is ₱68,950, and the STORM 80c three-light kit is ₱109,450.

Aputure Asia Pacific sales director Frank Cao said demand for pro-grade lights is rising outside major studios,

“Our goal is to make advanced lighting tools more accessible so they can focus on storytelling, not equipment limitations,” Cao said in a press release.

Furthermore, Cao said the Philippines remains a key market in Southeast Asia, with Aputure planning more workshops and hands-on demos for young filmmakers.

While no formal training program was announced, the company said it is expanding partnerships with local rental houses to make the new fixtures easier to access.

The lights will be available through Shuttermaster, Vizen Marketing, Henry’s Camera, CameraHaus, Apex Digital, Macy’s Camera Shop, Camera Commons, and Blacksite, with purchasing options offered across physical stores, official websites, and their respective Shopee, Lazada, Facebook, and Instagram channels.
