Why this Singapore-Based XaaS company made the Philippines its next power move

It started with batteries.

Back in 2008, Singapore-based OPSOLUTIONS began its journey as a humble reseller of Blackberry batteries to executives from multinational corporations. Fast forward to today, the company has evolved into a full-fledged business enabler, driving digital transformation for companies across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and the US. How did a niche IT reseller pivot into a regional digital powerhouse? It all comes down to identifying opportunity, acting on demand—and understanding people.

For CEO Mervin Toh, the decision to expand into the Philippines wasn’t driven by ambition alone—it was a strategic breadcrumb trail. After outsourcing work to Vietnam and the Philippines, it became clear that the Philippines offered something unique: a highly capable talent pool, no language barrier, and a shared time zone with key markets in the region. By 2015, the Philippine office became an official overseas hub, and the company hasn’t looked back.

“You can’t build technology for a country you don’t understand. Every market we enter comes with its own flavor—and our solutions need to reflect that.” – Ileanne Arango

“Culture is key,” adds Ileanne Arango, COO and President of OPSOLUTIONS. “You can’t build technology for a country you don’t understand. Every market we enter comes with its own flavor—and our solutions need to reflect that.”

Today, OPSOLUTIONS operates across Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, China, and the UAE. They specialize in ‘XaaS’—Everything as a Service—including IaaS, SaaS, DaaS, and managed IT services under their flagship platform N-OPS. From app development to hardware deployment, recruitment to cybersecurity, the company provides end-to-end solutions designed not just to solve problems, but to unlock business growth.

The Philippine Market: challenges and opportunities

While OPSOLUTIONS delivers a consistent service experience across markets, the Philippine digital ecosystem presents its own unique set of challenges—and potential. “The Philippines is catching up fast,” Arango notes. “There’s a growing hunger for digital solutions, especially in fintech, DevOps, and AI. But the pace of adoption still varies widely across businesses.”

Some companies are just now launching e-commerce sites or dipping their toes into social media. Others are further along—investing in data-driven insights and building automation into their workflows. But a recurring challenge, Arango says, is that many businesses still see digital transformation as an expense rather than an investment. “There’s still that mindset that free tools are always better than paid platforms. That limits how far a business can go.”

Add to that the need for “hand-holding” when managing large-scale transformation projects, and it’s clear why OPSOLUTIONS’ hands-on approach has found a receptive audience in the Philippines.

A Business Transformation Partner, Not Just a Vendor

Unlike many IT firms that sell services à la carte, OPSOLUTIONS positions itself as a transformation partner. Whether it’s through helping BPOs track their IT estates in real-time or providing HR and payroll systems for SMEs, their goal is to simplify operations while boosting long-term scalability. And they’re not just about writing custom code anymore. The company is steadily shifting from bespoke development to microservices and product-based offerings to meet growing demand at scale.

The hardware division, which began in 2018, rounds out the company’s holistic offerings. From procurement and warehousing to IT kitting and break-fix logistics, OPSOLUTIONS handles the entire hardware lifecycle. They’re now an Apple Authorized Reseller and a member of the Apple Consultant Network in the Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia.

People-Powered Tech

At the heart of all this innovation is OPSOLUTIONS’ culture—open, inclusive, and refreshingly ego-free. “We operate with servant leadership in mind,” Arango says. “Our managers don’t just direct—they work alongside their teams.” Office politics? Practically nonexistent. Everyone, regardless of role, is encouraged to contribute meaningfully to the company’s growth.

That culture is critical in an industry where talent needs to constantly re-skill. With AI and automation taking over low-value tasks, OPSOLUTIONS sees the future as one where people aren’t replaced by machines—but empowered by them. “The future is AI-as-a-Service,” Toh says. “But the power lies in how humans choose to wield it.”
