IFA Berlin 2024: 120 minute floor coverage

We just got back from IFA 2024 at Messe, Berlin. First off, we’d like to thank the ACER Philippines team for sending us over to witness their new unveils. We’ve covered them extensively in a previous post but also have a lot of video coverage of the key unveils — namely the ACER Nitro Blaze 7 gaming handheld and the DUAL PLAY CONCEPT that is to be integrated in other Predator devices soon. Check out the video below.

ACER’s launch event was held two days before the actual conference — a sneaky but brilliant move so as to get a lot of pre-IFA media attention without diluting coverage with the rest of the actual conference. That being said, we got to spend two hours on opening day to check out the other areas of the exhibits — and really, it was overwhelming! Nonetheless, here are some things that caught our eye.

TECNO Geekom Megamini Kickstarter Project

TECNO, known for ultra-affordable phones in the Philippines is entering the mini PC gaming market with a crowdfunded project: the Geekom Megamini G1 claims to be the smallest watercooled gaming mini PC in the market, running on an GeForce RTX 4060.

There are two models, both running 13th Core-i7 13700H / 13900H. Both come with an RTX4060. Cost is USD$1499 (32GB RAM 1TB SSD) and $1699 (32GB RAM 2TB SSD). As this is a crowdfunding project, we have no set date of release.

New JisuLife Cooling Fans

These are two portable desktop fans — one is an elegant bladeless fan while the other is a portable fan with a stand, for those of you who do not want to be holding up your current cooling device! These are set to launch in October.

HONOR unveils MagicBook Art14 laptops with detachable webcam

We’ve posted before about the HONOR Magic V3 being the thinnest foldable in the market today. But it’s also good to show off HONOR laptops, since we are on the topic of THIN. The MagicBook Art14 only weighs 1kg/1cm. It has a 14.6″ screen and a detachable camera via magnet (it is too thin to house a camera on the screen!). That’s why the camera is pulled out from the side of the device!

Rolling Seeds Interactive Toys

Check out Rolling Seeds, a series of educational toys for children for early reading comprehension. The device comes with chips (we think they’re NFC powered) that react to the screen, helping your toddler spell words in a fun and engaging way.

KODAK x HP x Barbie Partnership unveils instant camera

Is KODAK back? The KODAK Printomatic Barbie Edition is a digital camera and printer, all in one! You can print 2×3″ sticky photos instantly at 5MP resolution. It also comes with a built in microSD slot so you can transfer your shots. This seems to be a Collab among HP, Barbie, and Kodak.

Flying Car

This flying car concept really caught our eye towards the entrance of the convention because of the video demonstration — it seems like the way it lands is through a series of parachutes. Would you trust your life with this concept?

RayNeo Air 2s Augmented Reality glasses

The RayNeo Air 2s from TCL is a pair of augmented reality glasses that can connect to any USB-C display. In the photo, you can see it connected as an external display to the Nintendo Switch. You can watch movies, work, and play games through the lenses while still having a fairly OK view of your surroundings (but yeah it’s quite a burden). Although the tech look super bulky, we’re excited to see the use cases for this in the future.

UGREEN unveils new Nexode Powerbanks

We’ve previously featured UGREEN’s Nexode line. It seems that apart from the 20000mAh model there is a higher end 25000mAh variant (200W) and another 20000mAh (145W) model that features 15W wireless charging. The Nexode 48000mAh (300W) comes with 5 USB outputs. Here’s hoping we get these even higher end powerbanks in the market — we could definitely use a 48000mAh bank for black outs.

TCL unveils hybrind eink Android smartphone

TCL has unveiled an Android phone with NXTPAPER display technology. With a push of a button, you can switch between regular display and eink paper display, that basically turns your phone into a Kindle. The TCL 50 PRO NXTPAPER 5G comes with a 6.8″ FHD+ 120Hz Nextpaper tech.

This is useful for those who want to use a phone before sleeping because there is zero eyestrain with eink. It also pushes battery life up by several days. Check out our video below for the whimsical transformation! (Audio on)

PopSocket wows with new brand partnerships including Disney, Harry Potter, etc

PopSocket, the premium brand for cellphone holder has unveiled new brand partnerships with Pokemon, Star Wars, Harry Potter, and more!

Transformers IP in tech

The Transformers IP is expanding into tech accessories. According to the booth owner, they are looking for global distributors. Here are some samples of smart watches, headphones, and earbuds. Among other things.

And that’s a wrap! That’s me with the Ecoflow Sombrero that doubles as a powerbank!
